Frickin root rot

I’ve grown dwc for years.. never had any root issues. Then I had one plant get it.. (non recirculating system) and now it seems one outta three gets it. I thoroughly clean all my buckets, my RO system fills a 17 gal container that I clean, has air stone and dump 30% h2o2 in every once in awhile. Have run hydroguard, SOS... water temps are good, mid 60s at the highest. Water levels are around 1 inch below basket. Plants are in clay pebbles.. usually started in rockwool.

Tried different nutrients... currently running Jacks 3-2-1. I’ve even run an ozone generator in my tent when it was empty to kill everything as well as I sprayed it down with cleaning agents. Plants do fine in veg... seems to only happen when they’re moved from 2.5 gal dwc to my 5 gal bloom tent.

I swear everything and anything that’s in contact with my buckets, my water, my ph probe, EC stick.... everything and anything has been thoroughly cleaned! I feel like it’s something in the air already ... it’s crazy.

kinda like trich on substrate if u know what I mean.

Any clues?

Aloha & try bleach at 1 to 2 ppm (6 to 8 drops per gallon) every three days to create a sterile system.

So you’ll add for the entire run? Would u also add in veg?

What about it’s effect on Mammoth P? From what I’ve seen, it’s a bacteria.. with jacks 3-2-1 I’ve supplemented w mammoth p and fulvic acid.

The mammoth p ain’t cheap either... me thinks bleach would negate it, but no probs if the root rot issue is fixed. Totally kills the quality of the plant

Aloha & try 1 teaspoon of bleach for 12 to 16 gallons of water. It will wipe out the fungi and bacteria but is a cheap fix that has been proven for some root rots. Tap water often contains around 4 ppm.https://modernsurvivalblog.com/health/make-drinking-water-safe-with-bleach/

Google search "DWC Root Slime" and find a great thread on RIU. Just read the opening post. Essentially though, you don't want to use any bleach or H2O2 as that shit will kill your Mammoth P or other bacteria that help to clean roots and further process the nutes making them more available. FWIW, Mammoth P won't help as Jack's 321 is deficient of P to begin with, so the Mammoth won't be able to unlock any hidden P due to it not being there to begin with. If interested, I can advise how to supercharge the salt regimen, but it involves ditching Jack's and getting some other salts, plus learning to use Hydro Buddy. If interested, PM me and I'll get you a link to my 420 page that explain this all in much greater detail.

Aloha & no bleach but you want folks here to use mammoth p at $575 a gallon? Do you have any research about how this very expensive product affects root rot? We get all the p we want using foliar KNF using burned bone extracts. https://www.rollitup.org/t/mammoth-p-nutrients.977603/

Mammoth P isn't P in a bottle, but rather it's beneficial bacteria that primarily unlocks P from the soil and makes it more available. Generally speaking, beneficial bacteria cleans roots regularly, though it was my understanding that a much more robust colony was needed to achieve constant healthy roots. FYI, I'm not a soil or organic grower and have been in potted rockwool for years, in a top feed/recirculating system and due to regular use of aerated compost tea (Heisenberg Tea), I've never once had a root concern. after every harvest, I need an electric knife to rip apart the root balls due to extremely healthy root systems.

I use cultured solutions nutrient line. Their roots compound is chlorine based. I never ever get algae in my grow. Keep the water below 70 and keep it sterile is my rot prevention.
